Kyra Minturn Sedgwick is a renowned American screen and television actress. Her name is known all over the world and especially in America because of her leading role in the TV show 'The Closer'. Sedgwick had a passion for the arts, Broadway and performing since at the age of 12. Her mother was very interested in Broadway, and she introduced it to her. When she was of 16, Sedgwick was offered her first professional acting role on the show 'Another World'. She went on to do small time roles in the TV, but it was the idea that she could be a famous actress that attracted her. In the movie "Born in July 4th", in which Tom Cruise also starred, she was noticed for the first-time on a big screen. Sedgwick kept getting roles since she had an instant hit with this film. She also got other films like : Singles, Heart and Souls and Phenomenon. In a television movie called "Lemon Sky" Sedgwick was introduced to Kevin Bacon, an actor. They were married when she was just 22. Sedgwick became a household name on American television thanks to her impressive performance on "The Closer", a seven-season TV series which won her the Golden Globe Award and Emmy.
